Cookies can be used to perform a variety of functions on a website. In most situations they are necessary to the functionality of the website, such as handling user logins, e-commerce tracking etc. However, they can also be used in less desireable ways to record your shopping preferences and behavioural patterns allowing companies to display targetted advertising.
