Home Ways to Help Transporting

Transporting

Greyhound Gap and other rescue organisations have a constant need to transport dogs.  Whether it be an urgent call to get a dog to safety or to move a hound into foster care we rely on our volunteers to help transport the dogs safely to their destination.

Dogs must be able to transported safely in the vehicle, either behind a dog guard, in a crate or secured by means of a safety car harness.   Your own dogs should not be present when transporting.

Some of the dogs being transported may be frightened so calm, sensible handling is required.  Many of the dogs transported may come direct from the pound where little, if anything, is known about their background or health.  Therefore hygiene of your vehicle post-transportation is of utmost importance to guard against any possible cross-contamination.

Transporting

Transport appeals are usually posted in the Volunteers section of  the Greyhound Gap forum. Requests for urgent cases are often posted in the Appeals section.
